Got the last available table at 5:30 on Thursday night! Atmosphere was great. Clean restaurant with great service. Owner greeted our table and thanked us for coming in. In a city full of great dining options it was a nice touch. "Garage" / "car" type decor wasn't overdone. I can't wait to come back in the Spring when they open the garage doors. More than just "bar food", seriously well done.

Garage Burger and Garage Fries are great! I like how the menu is manageable and service was prompt! The onion rings were very good! Will certainly go back. Keep in mind if you go late in a weekend tables may be tough to find. I didn't see a hostess so we assumed to pick our own spot. Parking can also be an issue on the street, but the lot across from the restaurant was open. Last, the owner came to us and greeted our table. A very kind and classy move that rarely happens!

Great food and service! I would recommend checking it out. I had the burger and my wife had the pulled pork sandwich. Both were great. The fries are amazing. I can't wait to go back and try the homemade meatballs. The owner Kevin even stopped by the table to welcome us and introduce himself. The new decor is clean and fun. They have a garage door that opens for when the weather warms up again. This will be a fun place to go for their street parties during the summer.

Just visited the Garage for the second time. The garage fries are really good! Place has a nice open setup and friendly staff. Will definitely go back.

This place is an old garage turned into a bar a grill. It has a very open feeling to the place. This is not a fancy place they use the old garage look to make a unique experience. The neighborhood is either slightly worn down or on the way up. I hope it's the latter. I ordered the Garage burger which is cooked in a Au Ju sauce then topped with onion jam and white American cheese along with lettuce and tomatoes. The burger was very good. My new #4 burger in GR. There were 3 of us who all ordered a version of the burger and The only complaint is it needs a better bun. It falls apart too easily. The fries are fantastic as are the onion rings. They may have been the best part of the meal. I highly recommend a visit.

To celebrate the end of summer swim class we wanted to try out somewhere new. I had heard good things about the Garage but I knew it was a BAR, and had some hesitation about going . So I double then tripled checked reviews on FB and Yelp that it was, in fact "family friendly". All signs pointed to yes so we headed over... Perhaps it was just not our night or perhaps it meant "family friendly" if your family consists of sailor on leave with his biker friends. So much no. We came in, sat ourselves in a booth, a bored looking waitress/bartender ambled over and took our order. About 2 minutes later the other clientele started spewing F-Bombs louder and faster than NWA after a dozen redbulls. But that wasn't all, even the music was completely profane and we were stuck helplessly in a horrific moment of awkwardness akin to watching a movie with your grandma when all of a sudden a gratuitous sex scene happens. It. was. awful. We had already ordered or we would have just left. My husband took the kids outside to play corn hole while I cringed. The food was mediocre. I had a burger which tasted like it had been pre-made. The fries were old, soggy and limp. After all the hype I had expected better. For what we paid we could have had much better elsewhere. Bonus though, my kids now have a bigger vocabulary to start school with. I don't blame a bar for being a bar, but even had my kids not been with me the visit would not have been much better. 2 stars for food/service/atmosphere and definitely not family friendly.

The Garage burger is pretty good! It has sauce, cheese, and onion jam. It's kind of messy but really tasty! We ordered it medium and it was cooked perfectly. The fries are seasoned but nothing too special. We also ordered the chicken tenders basket. The tenders are large and the batter is a bit thicker, like you would find on fish + chips, but not over battered. I really liked them. Wednesday night is open mic night so it was pretty loud when we went, but we still had a good time. There were families with kids there when we went, and I saw high chairs available.

As a past customer of Teazers and this establishment has now a new name and face... Wow!! Michelle was server and did a fabulous job. Great music. Food was good. I recommend

Not the best part of town, but heard lots of good things about this place. Went with their signature fries and burger. The fries were fresh and covered with a ton of toppings. The burger reminded me of a White Castle slider - don't get me wrong, I actually really like White Castle. The flavor of steamed onions soaked into a bun was all I could think of when biting into it - if you had a slider, you'll know what I mean. The manager brought our table some house made nut mixture of sweet and spicy which was very tasty. They could use a few more taps as the Vandermill cider I had was from a can. They have another section of the restaurant that has live music. Good but not great.
(3)Nicole H.
They have an extremely delicious burger, that almost has a homemade vibe vs a standard restaurant burger vibe. Amazing fries and awesome events. If you're going for lunch service can be a little slow and can be crowded.
(4)Sarine J.
I got the lugnut sundae and it is weird. The 'lugnut' is this fried crunchy dough ball with all these spices including something that tastes like chili powder and curry. If they are trying to be different, they definitely have that going on! As for the beers they've only got 4 beers on tap. Pretty disappointed and very weirded out by this chili curry puff ball ice cream sundae.
(2)Griff G.
Stopped in for a beer a quick bite with some friends after rock climbing across the street. The atmosphere is very cool with all of the old car signs and decor. Booze selection was fairly standard for GR and the menu had traditional selections and a few "original" items. It's a ways out from downtown - but absolutely worth a look if you're sick of Ionia.

I went here a couple weeks ago for a friend's birthday. I liked the automotive themed decor. I had the garage burger and fries, both were surprisingly really good. The meat tasted fresh and was actually cooked to order, the fries were hand-cut and even the bun was good quality. Everyone else I was with were also really happy with their food. I'll have to go back to try the French onion soup, which looked amazing. The service was on the slow side, but I was with a large party, it was really busy and we weren't in a rush so I didn't mind. The menus and beer selection are somewhat limited, but I'd rather go somewhere with fewer selections and know anything I get is going to be high quality than have more variety but it's hit or miss.
(4)Cassandra D.
Meh.. It was ok. Burger and fries were good. Chicken Cesar salad was very difficult to eat. A roman heart cut in half laid on top of each other with little chicken. Dressing was awesome. Just hard to eat. Atmosphere was pretty cool. Great service!
(3)Stacy E.
Food was really really good! The beer selection wasn't huge but GR focuses too much on beer anyways. Service was good, atmosphere was chill, bar was clean & well lit. Did I mention the food was really good? The next time I want some pub food this will be my 1st choice. I was able to park close, get a table, stay & hang out, hear the person across the table, and have great food!! Bye bye downtown bars!
(5)Lindsay O.
4 stars because they are still new and working out tweaks. Food was so yummy! I have been turn off on onion rings for years. Those I could make love too! Oh my goodness, those were crunchy, sweet onions and not greasy. I got a BYOB (build your own burger). The onion jam, oh the onion jam. Yes please, on anything! FOr $2.00 extra, I added in the Garage fries to my burger and it was worth it. Bacon, cheese, jalapeños, and this sauce. Very good. My only criticism is they were a bit salty; though that didn't stop me from finishing them all. Water is good, just as my on special PBR draft. My hubby got the Garage Burger and a side of onion rings. I have said my gushing review on the onion rings already. After a bite of the Garage Burger, wow! I can only say it is rich...what it wrong with indulging now and then, right? Overall, you know I will be back. Great atmosphere, great waitress (Michelle). She said the kitchen was backed up; but, we did notice any delay. Thumbs up!

Love this place! We stopped in while passing through Grand Rapids and made the decision based on other Yelp reviews - so glad we did. First off - the staff here rocks! So friendly and nice but also really good service. It's a cool theme and decor too :-) my husband and I both had the french dip (one with onion jam and one without) and it was delicious. Great bread, good meat and a tasty dipping au jus. The fries are so good - hand cut and seasoned perfectly. I subbed for the onion rings which were really good and we all liked the sauce that came with them. Our kids had regular burgers which were a good size and they were also good. Overall it was a great lunch and we'll definitely be back.

We had dinner at the Garage Bar tonight. The chicken strips were great. The garage fries were tasty. The wedge salad was great...the combination of blue cheese and balsamic dressing on it was fabulous. We will definitely go again!!!
(5)Jen S.
Disappointing. Staff just stood around. Never did find out what was on tap as the waitress was confused by the question of what IPAs were available. Ordered a Founder's All Day and despite telling me it was on draft came out in a bottle. No glass offered. I ordered a burger and the grease that collected in the bottom of the basket made the bottom bun soggy and gross. No condiments were offered other than ketchup. Fries were pretty good. Otherwise the place seems like every other ho hum place that opens one day and is gone the next.
(2)Shawn L.

Wow. the food is fantastic, Crispy and spicy hot wing's, mouth watering french dip, an killer french fries. The drink selection is on point. Will definitely be a regular here!!!

We had a great experience here for lunch - Briona provided excellent, attentive service and helped a bunch with our toddler. The food was very tasty and reasonably priced. The neighborhood outside is so-so, but would highly recommend otherwise.

We had a large group on a busy night, but the service was great...pretty quick. We sampled lots of items...the garage fries, meatballs, huge wings, chicken tenders, breaded mushrooms, nachos, onion rings, nachos, French onion and steak soup, garage burger, olive burger, French dip and nutty ice cream sundae. This review would be too long if I described it all, but it all was great with generous portions and all homemade! The most expensive thing on the menu is only $8.99...the beers are $2, well drinks are $3 and wine is $4...all day! The decor is industrial, clean and new with steel top tables, wood floors, old bar, pipe shelves, car and garage photography, lots of big screens and one pool table. They have entertainment and open the garage door to street parties in the summer. And they are open on Sundays, which is great because in Grand Rapids, usually only chain restaurants are open Sunday.
